Founded by Lilja Björk Guðmundsdóttir, Lilja Björk Jewellery is an independent jewellery company that is based in Reykjavík, Iceland. Lilja Björk moved to Copenhagen in 2018 to study Jewellery Design, Technology, and Business at KEA.
In 2022 she moved back to Iceland to finish her maternity leave with her daughter. During that time she helped with 3D drawing the Pink Cancer Ribbon in Iceland. As well, being at a crossroads after being a single mom she decided in 2023 to follow her dreams and open her own company when her daughter started kindergarten. Today the jewellery is handmade and produced in her garage. However, LBJ has gotten help from a Danish company to cast the Hug My Ear earrings.
The company's goal is to focus on local produce and handcrafting, where following the latest trends is important as well as adding a touch of the Nordic/Icelandic nature into the designs.
It is also important for LBJ to show and teach how most jewellery is made, as well as being honest.
It is important for Lilja to take what she learned in Copenhagen, where the jewellery industry is strong and there is great consensus between companies. They are also encouraged to go their own ways, whether it is in design or using different techniques.

LBJ goals are to grow the company and make a community inside and outside the company. For example with the jewellery course, Wax to Silver, where Lilja showed how many jewelleries are made, with the lost wax casting method. The technique is 6000 years old and can be used in many ways.
Sustainability is a big part of LBJ values; we do not want to overproduce or overconsume. We use recycled silver, our packaging is recycled and some of the jewellery is made after ordering.
