About Us
Lilja Björk Jewellery is an independent Icelandic jewellery brand founded by designer Lilja Björk Guðmundsdóttir. Rooted in Reykjavík, the brand blends handcrafted artistry with modern expression, using the ancient Lost Wax Casting method as its core technique.
Lilja moved to Copenhagen in 2018 to study Jewellery Design, Technology, and Business at KEA. In 2022, she returned to Iceland to complete her maternity leave with her daughter. During that time, she contributed to 3D-designing the Pink Cancer Ribbon in Iceland. As a new single mother at a personal crossroads, she made a bold decision in 2023 to follow her creative dreams and launch her own business as her daughter began kindergarten—starting humbly in her father’s garage.
In 2025, she took a bold step and moved her workshop into a storefront at Baldursgata 36 in downtown Reykjavík. It was a significant and risky decision, but one she knew was necessary to pursue her vision. Just five months after opening the store, she learned that the space would no longer be available and that she would need to relocate within six months. In February 2026, she reopened her store on one of Reykjavík’s most popular shopping streets, Laugavegur 72, continuing to both create her jewelry and serve customers on site.
Lilja Björk Jewellery focuses on local production, slow fashion, and honest storytelling. Designs are inspired by Icelandic and Nordic nature, and guided by current trends without losing their organic identity. Transparency is a key value—both in sharing how jewellery is made and in the way the business is run.
Sustainability is woven into the core of the brand.
We use recycled silver purchased from Cooksongold, minimize overproduction by making some items to order, and package everything in recycled materials.
Lilja believes in building community—both within and around the brand. This vision comes to life through her jewellery course, Wax to Silver, where participants learn how jewellery is traditionally made using the ancient 6,000-year-old lost wax casting technique.
Lilja brings with her a strong influence from her time in Copenhagen, where the jewellery industry thrives through collaboration and innovation. This spirit of shared growth and creative independence continues to shape the path of LBJ.
